Meet Phil Bryant, owner and experienced instructor
Phil Bryant is the owner and instructor at Rightway Riding Academy, bringing a wealth of experience and passion for motorcycle training to the role. As an experienced motorcyclist both on and off road, Phil understands the importance of safe and skilled riding. He's a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists and is NZTA approved to deliver BHST, CBTA Restricted and Full licences as well as being ACC approved to run Ride Forever courses.
With a commitment to helping students achieve their motorcycle license and become confident, skilled riders, Phil is dedicated to providing a supportive and encouraging learning environment ensuring that students receive the highest quality training.

Rightway's history - a foundation of safety and skill
Rightway Riding Academy was founded by Peter Hookham in 2017, after nearly four decades in the transport industry. Peter's passion for road safety and motorcycle training has been the driving force behind our motorcycle school. With over 40 years of experience with motorcycles in the UK and New Zealand, Peter is a senior member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists and an accredited assessor for motorcycle training for the New Zealand Transport Agency.
In 2025, Phil Bryant took over the business and renamed it Rightway Riding Academy, building on the strong foundation established by Peter. Under Phil's leadership, the academy continues to provide quality training and support to riders of all levels.
Peter Hookham
Peter was the founder of Rightway and has been around motorcycles for over 40 years in the Uk and New Zealand.
As a senior member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists, his passion is to coach students to the highest professional levels so that they have a better understanding of safe riding technique, allowing them to better enjoy each and every ride.
Giles Sullivan
For over 20 years Giles Sullivan has been riding motorcycles on road and on gravel in Europe, the USA and in New Zealand. For Giles riding is about the special places that the bike allows you to reach. It’s about the unique experience and perspective that the bike can give you and which a car simply can’t! Through his coaching and mentoring Giles helps people to understand the ‘how’. How to ride safely and how the bike works.
